Hi, unfortunately there aren't good news....
I have tried an independent development of upgrades but Zenrin/Clarion/Renault do not provide any information about used maps format but, simultaneously, they don't want to sell an upgrade!
Only way, seems to be the replacement of Carminat DVD system but costs are very high....and Renault Service don't offers any form of support (parts can not be purchased without a valid car VIN and disassembly/replacement operation is not allowed).

A navigation app on smartphone always works better compared to the old gen navigation system of Carminat DVD, but three years are very few for having an obsolete and unusable system.

There isn't a way to use another map on LCD because it is integrated with all the system (use of external video input on LCD inhibits the display of the other functions, therefore you forces to switch video source continually). However, if you want to use another system you can just disable navigation visualization through pressing for about two seconds "Main/Map" button: in this case, other functions (Bluetooth, radio, ecc..) continue working and the map is completely hidden. This mode remains active even you restart the car, just do not quickly press the "Main/Map" button.

Unfortunately, the only way is to hope that Renault France decides to commission an upgrade DVD to Clarion (Zenrin?).
All upgrades are specific for platform Xanavi X7 and are developed in Japan (copyright notice on Nissan DVDs).
I'm looking for information about development of an unofficial upgrade DVD but without knowing operating system internal structure (Xanavi OS based on VxWorks) is really hard. Map packaging is not conform to a standard used in other system....
I have contacted also Xanavi.ru, a company that alters Xanavi navigators in Russia (with custom maps), but I haven't receive any response.

My idea was to take the entire system from a scrap car because the purchase of the individual components it is impossible (are very expensive).
Hopefully Renault give us the opportunity to upgrade again our systems....

Hello everyone, I'm Italian and, unfortunately, I have Carminat CNC DVD on my Laguna 2012!
After only one year from purchase, my system cannot be upgraded.....
From what I've heard, it seems that Renault does not intend to invest some money to release an update for this system (in the best case an update It should be issued only for France area).
Currently I'm looking to replace my Carminat DVD with a Carminat TomTom Live but it's really hard...you have to dismantle everything and Renault guarantees nothing. It's a drastic solution, but I lost all hope.
Someone has already tried?
